The Concord grape is a cultivar derived from the grape species Vitis labrusca (also called fox grape) that are used as table grapes, wine grapes and juice grapes. The skin of a Concord grape is typically dark blue or purple, and often is covered with a lighter-coloured epicuticular wax “bloom” that can be rubbed off. The healthiest part of the grape is the skin, which is packed with not one but 19 different types of health-supporting nutrients. Concord grapes contain many flavonoids, including resveratrol, which can help decrease blood pressure by improving the fluidity of the blood.
